Hi, I’m Deanna (school teacher, grad student, mother, wife, daughter, and friend) and I’m just getting started out here! This blog is for sharing all of my favourite healing plant-based recipes as well as powerful information that has helped myself, my family, and others heal over the last few years. These recipes only use fruits, vegetables, legumes, seeds, nuts, mushrooms, herbs & spices. They recipes on this blog are:
100% VEGAN (ALSO SOY-FREE)
This means: NO meat, dairy, eggs, any other animal products, or soy. In some recipes there is an option between raw, locally sourced honey or maple syrup. Choose the maple syrup option if you are wanting to be 100% vegan.
GRAIN-FREE*
* In a separate section, I’ve included some yummy gluten-free/corn-free recipes for those who can tolerate grains like sprouted oats, quinoa, millet, or brown rice.
LOW-FAT
Most recipes have a few fats from avocado, coconut milk, seeds, or nuts but many have options to make them completely fat free. Some of the recipes require 1-2 teaspoons of olive oil or coconut oil.
MEDICAL MEDIUM FRIENDLY
“Medical Medium Friendly” meaning that these recipes focus on fruits and vegetables. So, on top of being vegan, grain-free, and low-fat, NONE of these recipes have sugar, lots of salt, vinegar, alcohol, natural/artificial flavours, nutritional yeast, or artificial sweeteners. If you follow medical medium protocols, this recipes are suitable for the anti-bug cleanse, and many work for the 28-day cleanse or the liver-rescue cleanses. .
ORTHODOX LENTEN
All recipes are vegan and most recipes are oil-free. If you search “oil free” you’ll get a list of all the recipes that don’t have any oil.
Are you on a restricted diet? This place is for you. Welcome!
Healing
If you can develop a condition, you can heal from it. The true task is to figure out what the root cause is and what will heal it. My husband and I have tried many different diets: Keto, Candida, Paleo, RAW, Weston Price Foundation way of eating, Bone Broth/Collagen everything, juicing, Vegetarian, Vegan, Traditional Ayurvedic, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and more.
The searching ended a few years ago when we started to implement Anthony Williams’ healing advice to increase hydration, lower fats, and eat as many fruits and vegetables as possible.
Immediately, we started to feel better than ever had and started to heal from so many symptoms and illnesses! My deepest hope is that you can believe that for yourself; that you too, can heal and live the brightest version of you.
(You will not find any of the above ingredients on this blog.)
My husband, myself, and my friends have healed eating this way more than with any other diet. While long-term chronic illness takes a long time to heal, everyone notices smaller symptoms vanish almost immediately.
I have healed from:
- brain Fog
- SIBO
- decades of food intolerances
- “Leaky gut”
- dry, dull hair and nails
- adrenal fatigue
- irregular periods
- bleeding gums
- frequent cavities
- shaky hands
- a broken heart
- mild PTSD
- low energy and fatigue
- sinus issues (still healing)
My husband has healed from:
- kidney problems
- prostatitis
- insomnia
- heart palpitations
- fatigue after eating
- caffeine addiction
- cavities
- chronic diarrhea
- muscle spasms
- chronic dehydration
- seizure intensity and frequency (although we are still focused on healing his seizures)
Blog
In the Blog area of this site, I include some basic tips to get started with eating healthier here, as well as
personal stories of healing, life-lessons from nature, and some meditations that support emotional healing here. These are transformative lessons that I’ve learned over the years from my own healing journey, from healthcare professionals, from being in nature, and most importantly from making mistakes.
Dealing with illness or lots of food intolerances and allergies can be SO HARD! Sometimes this pain can lead to more more pain, or more illness, but there are powerful ways to heal the emotional wounds and brighten again. I hope these journal-like entries will inspire you in your own healing journey.
background
I am not a doctor or someone certified to give personalized health advice, nor a pro-blogger, writer, photographer, “techy”, or chef for that matter! I’m here to share what’s helped me.
I love eating and all things food related. In the last twenty years, I have taken university courses on nutrition, read loads of books, articles, and cookbooks about nutrition. Along with reading about nutrition, I also have learned to love and enjoy cooking whether mindfully on a Sunday afternoon or in a week-day rush.
It takes courage to heal and to embrace a food culture that may be different than what you grew up with, or how your family and friends eat. As someone raised with a strong European food culture (good bread with good cheese anyone?), it can be really hard to change your diet!
My hope is that my journey might help you on your journey (and vice versa). I want this site to help anyone looking to add healing meals to their life as well as create a gathering place for others, like me, who love to eat healing foods but are working full-time, parenting, trying to heal themselves and their children, and don’t have time to search for hours every week for recipes.
Bright Recipes is a community to share our stories, our favourite recipes, and encourage each other! Welcome!
Disclaimer
These recipes are based on my interpretation of Anthony William’s literature. They are in no way affiliated with him or endorsed by him. Use your own judgment. Also, if you are sick with ANY chronic illness and not getting ahead, go check out someone named The Medical Medium. I had a lot of criticisms at first, but my health was in a desperate state and I felt like I had nothing to lose. In the end, that made all the difference and instead of getting sicker, I actually feel better now than I have in decades!
