Spicy Tahini Dressing

Spicy Tahini Dressing

I make this almost every day! This Spicy Tahini Dressing is a vegan salad dressing or dip that works on any salad as a dressing or as a fantastic dip for any vegetable (hello, potatoes?). Plus, it’s easy, fast, and satisfying.

In a cold climate, it can be tough to stay warm eating mostly RAW foods. This is one of my solutions: the Spicy Tahini Dressing. Spices like Cumin and Cayenne have a warming effect on the body which makes it easier to digest so much cold, raw food, when the weather is also cold. This mix can be used as a dip OR dressing and will warm you up instantly, even though it’s uncooked.

This vegan salad dressing or dip is:

oil-free
dairy free
grain-free
avocado-free
& nut-free

This dressing is literally only a few ingredients and can be made quickly in a small bowl with a fork to whisk. (This is usually how I make it.) Honestly, it’s so easy to whip up, I make it almost daily as a dressing for salads, or dip for roasted potatoes.

Also, I tend to free-style with the quantities so just go for it. Any combo will probably turn out and be yummy, yum!

P.S. I tend to like food that’s so spicy it makes me cry so you might want to taste-test to ensure that you’re not adding too much cayenne.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp tahini
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • ¼ – 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • ¼ – ½ tsp salt
  • ½ lemon, juiced
  • up to ¼ cup water

Directions

  • In a small bowl, add the tahini, cumin, cayenne, salt, and lemon. (If this is your first time making this dip, you can add the Cayenne at the end. 1tsp of cayenne will make the dip quite spicy so you may want to taste test as you add the spice.)
  • Stir quickly with a fork to blend completely
  • Slowly add in the water, one bit at a time, stirring quickly so the dressing becomes creamy
  • Enjoy!

Tips

To make this a dip instead of a dressing: add less water.
If you want this more sour, you can also add more lemon juice and less water.
There isn’t really a way to go “wrong” with this recipe so I often make this without measuring. Once it’s all stirred up, it’s delicious however the quantities play out.
