Lemon Water

Lemon Water

I know, an entire blog post on lemon water? Have you heard of the benefits of drinking water? This simple drink has had incredible results on our health. It’s worth posting about. There are two ways to enjoy this bevy: as a cleansing drink upon waking, and as a hydrating drink throughout the day.

Method 1: Cleansing Drink Upon Waking

It’s pretty simple. When you wake up, squeeze half of a lemon into 500ml (16oz) water and drink it. I am *always* in a rush in the morning (probably because I sleep in to the last minute) so I chug mine as fast as possible then go about getting ready for the day. This routine will help flush out your system from all the toxins that your liver and kidneys have filtered throughout the night.

Method 2: Hydrating Throughout the Day

Did you know that water is so processed that it can sometimes have a dehydrating effect on the body?! Yikes! Good news is that there are really easy ways to make the water more hydrating: add a slice of lemon or lime and/or add a few slices of cucumber. Of course, we all know this intuitively because water tastes better with a little bit of cucumber or citrus. So now’s your chance to make your water bottle look like it’s from a five start hotel with fancy slices of lime, lemon, oranges, and/or cucumber. Mmmm. Sprigs of mint or ginger also add to the taste-factor, although they don’t affect how hydrating water is. Enjoy this simple change to your daily routine of drinking 2+L (2qts) of water.
